While we chose to divide our etiologies into three categories, it should be noted that such division has certain limitations. Even though URIs and the common cold are considered mainly viral in origin and rhinosinusitis mainly bacterial in origin,26, 27 there is considerable overlap between these co

Optical coherence tomography angiography is another promising method for the assessment of corneal neovascularization. This relatively new modality is not yet widely used in part because of current limitations in the definition of images produced, lack of functional information, and inability to det

Electron paramagnetic resonance studies of mixtures of Aβ1–40 and Aβ1–42 suggest that interlaced fibrils might also form [40] where Aβ1–40 and Aβ1–42 is found within the same fibril. Considering the Aβ fold rather than the sequence, these observations imply two mechanisms that might lower the total

  2022-12-09

Here we found that AMPK directly phosphorylates EZH2 at Thr311 to disrupt its interaction with SUZ12 and to inhibit PRC2 enzymatic activity, which is supported by the increased expression of PRC2-repressed genes. Furthermore, the T311E-EZH2 mutant that mimics AMPK-mediated phosphorylation status sup

  2022-12-09

Activation of AhR is also known to upregulate the expression of AhRR (AhR repressor), an inhibitor protein of AhR [29]. However, the exact mechanism by which AhRR represses AhR signaling is not well understood. The initial study by Mimura and colleagues suggested that AhRR is capable of directly com

Thymic expression of AChR Both linear unfolded epitopes of AChR subunits and the intact AChR are avidly expressed in thymus, particularly by thymic epithelial cells and myoid cells [17], [18], [19]. AChR-antibody positive MG patients often show thymic hyperplasia, characterized by lymphoid follic

Viral manipulation of host factors to oppose anti-viral autophagy To escape or manipulate autophagy, some viruses developed strategies that are based on the recruitment of host-cell endogenous factors. The non-enveloped double-stranded DNA virus adenovirus is rapidly endocytosed after attachment.

6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) is a selective catecholaminergic neurotoxin mainly used to generate lesions in the nigrostriatal pathway in rats (Ungerstedt, 1968). The most common use of 6-OHDA is via unilateral injection into the rat medial forebrain bundle (MFB). DA depletion, nigral DA cell loss, and

In addition, neuronal VEGF expression was elevated by endogenous ACh in a manner that was
