• In addition to peroxyl radicals

  2023-10-07

In addition to peroxyl radicals, the most found radical forms in biological systems, some of assays took into account other free radicals such as superoxide anion, hydroxyl, hydrogen peroxide, singlet oxygen and peroxynitrite. ORAC procedure was also modified using different radical sources such as

Results and discussion This paper reports the synthesis of methoxy and 4-thio derivatives of quercetin and luteolin, which includes two new derivatives (4 and 12) and explores how subtle variations in the chemical structure of flavonoids affect their biological activity, particularly in relation

In our study we provide evidence for the existence of an endosome-lysosomal pathway for the proteolytic degradation of AR triggered by its interaction with the ESCRT-I component TSG101. The following findings of this study support this notion: (1) We showed that TS101 interacts with endogenous or ec

Recent work has detailed the impact of genetic CC-10004 of AMPK in the liver, revealing only minor phenotypes upon removal in mice (Boudaba et al., 2018). However, these studies very elegantly showed the potential for small molecule-mediated activation of AMPK to elicit large changes in lipid metab

  2023-10-03

Lee et al. have demonstrated that APPL1 associates with AdipoR1 in Hek293 pi3k akt where both proteins have been overexpressed with suitable tags [16]. In contrast to recent data the formation of this complex is not enhanced by exogenous adiponectin [16], [33]. Knock-down of APPL1 reduces the level

  2023-10-03

PC is considered as a cancer of the epigenome (Grasso et al., 2012, Robinson et al., 2015). Our results demonstrate that the interaction of AR with ACK1 drives the positive feedback epigenetic circuitry that is ultimately conducive to promote AR transcription. Further, this circuitry subjugates AR t

Chlorogenic ZD6474 (7), an abundant polyphenol found in coffee and the human diet, has various biological activities including antioxidant and anticancer effects [54]. Jiang et al. reported that compound 7 had a selective cytotoxic activity on human oral tumor cells (HSG, HSC-2) as compared with nor

This study evaluated the anti-tumor influences of LA against HepG2 URB597 in vivro, and investigated the molecular mechanisms of inducing apoptosis. Overall, our studies suggested that LA is a promising anti-cancer drug and a possible novel therapeutic agent directed toward the mitochondrial-media

Despite clear evidence of a causative role for Aβ in AD, Aβ-mediated toxicity alone is insufficient to explain all facets of fully manifested AD. Indeed, a recent report found that two familial AD mutations in PSEN1, PSEN-L435F and PSEN-C410Y, resulted in a dysfunctional protein that does not cleave

  2023-10-01

Whereas allostery in the β cell is relatively understudied, significant progress has been made in understanding the physiology and mechanistic biology of how AMPK and its upstream kinases govern β cell function. LKB1 phosphorylates AMPKα at Thr172 [21], and loss of LKB1 in β cells abolishes phosphor

Introduction The development and plasticity of synapses involve the timely recruitment of a plethora of proteins on both pre- and postsynaptic sides through ill-defined mechanisms. At excitatory synapses, two of the major proteins that are dynamically recruited postsynaptically are the Ca2+/calmo

  2023-10-01

Flavonoids-protein interactions studies play a substantial part in the hunt for novel molecules which are to interact with a selected disease-relevant target [35]. The mode of potential interaction gives information about the flavonoid effectiveness and selectivity. Lately, possible target molecules
