  2024-08-15

As the effects of baclofen on primary afferent activity are not reproduced by GABAA receptor agonists like muscimol and isoguvacine, this ionotropic receptor may play minimal role in the modulation of primary afferent activity. However, it is important to note that post-synaptic GABAA receptors rema

Furthermore, low-affinity sites that share no structural homology with the aforementioned sites have been described in the transmembrane domain. It has been discovered that, in α1βγ2 receptors, potentiation of GABA-activated currents by high concentrations of diazepam is biphasic, with a high- and a

• NOS is classified into three

  2024-08-15

NOS is classified into three isoforms: endothelial (eNOS), neuronal (nNOS), and inducible (iNOS), iNOS is expressed in macrophages (Eisenstein, Huang, Meissler Jr, & al-Ramadi, 1994) and osteoblast-like cells (Riancho et al., 1995) and is involved in the regulation of inflammatory reactions (Eisenst

  2024-08-15

Although little is known about the etiopathogenesis of preeclampsia, this syndrome has a major impact on maternal and fetal health worldwide, since it is responsible for 10–15% of maternal deaths [16], [17], preterm births, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and fetal deaths [2]. In developing

The current results also demonstrated tendencies toward decreased serum Aβ40 levels and increased Aβ42 levels during the 1-year follow-up. These tendencies are consistent with the results of a previous study that evaluated Aβs in the CSF of patients with late-life depression (Pomara et al., 2016). T

Experimental procedures Results Discussion Our biophysical and cellular analyses of mutant Aβ1–42 peptides support a role of the N-terminus of Aβ in peptide aggregation and toxicity. We demonstrate that double mutations constructed to humanize the rodent Aβ1–42 sequence result in a signific

Experimental Acknowledgment Introduction The NADPH-dependent reduction of d-glucose catalyzed by aldose reductase (E.C.1.1.1.21) (AR) is considered as one of the phenomena leading to the onset of long term diabetic complications [as review see: [1], [2]. In fact, the reduction of the sugar,

  2024-08-14

Introduction In myasthenia gravis (MG), autoantibodies against the native AChR conformation cause loss of AChR at the neuromuscular junction and fatigable muscle weakness (Newsom-Davis et al., 1993). The AChR is a pentameric transmembrane protein, with two splice forms of the α-subunit, P3A− and

• Matrix metalloprotease inhibitors are increasingly available

  2024-08-14

Matrix metalloprotease inhibitors are increasingly available and tested for other indications in clinical trials. The present study suggests that either ADAM10 or TACE inhibition alone will not maximally restore leukocyte Axl function. We found that lower doses of ADAM10/TACE inhibitors exhibit simi

  2024-08-14

There are two major isoforms of 12/15-LO in mammalian, 12 and 15- LO, with different cellular distributions. To determine the relative contributions of these isoforms towards glucose-induced monocyte-endothelial interactions, the distribution of these isoforms in the two cell types involved in leuko

  2024-08-14

We further evaluated the possibility whether letrozole mediates its effect through diverting the pathway towards 5α-DHT and further to 3α-Diol. For this purpose, we measured the concentrations of 5α-DHT and 3α-Diol in mice hippocampus and found that letrozole elevated both 5α-DHT and 3α-Diol levels

In order to determine whether the faster Rh2-induced apoptosis is specific of cholesterol depletion, we determined the cytotoxic effect of Rh2 in Deoxycholic acid depleted or not in sphingomyelin, another abundant plasma membrane lipid exhibiting enrichment in lipid rafts. We showed that, in contra

Acknowledgments and Disclosures Introduction In mammals, ejaculated sperm requires a finite period of residence in the female reproductive tract to become competent for fertilization (Visconti et al., 1995a, Visconti et al., 1995b). Once oocytes are matured, it is important for these cells to

  2024-08-13

Among the AXL-positive tumors that we screened, the TNBC cell line MDA-MB-231 showed the highest AXL expression level. Additionally, AXL protein levels were higher in TNBC patient samples than in other breast cancers. Considering the difficulty of, and the urgent need for, effective treatments of TN

Research perspective In vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that increased LPA/ATX signaling contributes to cancer initiation and progression. Recent findings on the role of non-tumoral ATX in cancer progression and metastasis highlighted a new functional contribution for the microenviron
